~~FUNDRAISING AND SUPPORT DRIVE 2018~~
2018 August-December Food Donations
One $300 food donation, made directly to one village, includes the delivery of two 80lb bags of rice and grains, cooking oil, and a goat and/or chickens for herding and meat. In our villages, food is scarce and a little bit goes a long way to fill the hungry bellies of many!
We seek to make regular deliveries to the aprox. 8 different villages we work with periodically throughout the year on a rotating basis, as well as when emergency requests come in during times of great hardship or scarcity.
For each cash donation of any amount, we will let you know what village we delivered to, who and how many got fed, and will send along some photos and stories! Every bit counts!
We are seeking to fund the remaining deliveries for 2018:
January 2018
Village 1 $300 ---> $100 received, $200 remaining
Village 2 $300
Village 3 $300
June 2018
Village 1 $300
Village 2 $300
Village 3 $300
December 2018
Village 1 $300

School Fees for Second Half of 2018 – Adopt a CBF-Sponsored Student!
We are currently supporting 8 special students from 4 different villages by sponsoring their school attendance fees, where tuition is required. The children, ranging in age from 10-18, receive the sponsorship with the promise to return to their communities to be of service.
School fees are $500/student per year. We are raising funds to cover the second half of 2016.
With each donation, Cultural Bridge Foundation will send you information about the student, photos and an update of how the student is progressing in their studies!
Student 1 $500
Student 2 $500
Student 3 $500
Student 4 $500
Student 5 $500
Student 6 $500
Total = $3000 for January-December 2018
Solar Panel and Solar Reading Lights Project
We seek to supply our sponsored students, their families, and our villages with small solar panels (able to charge mobile phones and run small electronics) and durable solar reading lights. Access to solar light creates extra opportunity for families and students and provides and alternative to burning harmful oils, gasses, or precious wood just for light.
$80/solar panel
2018 goal: 10 solar panels = $800
$40 per solar reading light
2018 goal: 40 reading lights = $800
Water Well Installation Projects
We are currently fundraising to raise money for 3 water wells to be installed in two different villages in early 2017. The installation of water wells has been requested directly by two of the communities we work with as an urgent need. The best time to drill is during the dry season in January and February to be able to gauge accurate depths for year-round water flow. Funds raised for water well installation include the roll-out of community education programs so that the community itself is responsible for the care, repair and maintenance of water wells to keep them functioning and healthy for all.
Water Well 1 $15,000
Water Well 2 $15,000
Water Well 3 $15,000
Total = $45,000
Village Tractor!
In 2012, Cultural Bridge Foundation delivered it’s first tractor to one of our villages in Northwestern Burkina Faso. The villages own food source depends on the land they farm, which is extremely labor-intensive. We are seeking to deliver a second tractor to a village in Eastern Burkina Faso in early 2017. Funding for the tractor includes community education programs in the use, maintenance and care of the tractor by the community to ensure many years of use in the fields.
1 Tractor 2018, Eastern Burkina Faso $20,000.00

THE BIG VISION: THE CBF VILLAGE IN BURKINA FASO
Share in our big vision for Cultural Bridge Foundation!
As we expand and grow into serving our communities in West Africa, we are looking to purchase a property in Burkina Faso in 2018 that will be set up to serve as a Cultural Exchange and Learning Center, a hub and gathering place for the local community, a traditional-style accommodation for both visitors from all over the world and African teachers from different parts of West Africa serving as “Cultural Teachers in Residence”, and which will serve as African headquarters for the Cultural Bridge Foundation. Our US headquarters are currently based in Ojai, California.
Under the direction and request of our African counterparts and village, we are moving forward on the dream of collaborating on the building an actual village on a several acre property, in traditional mud brick building style, that will be jointly inhabited and run by local tribal people and Cultural Bridge Foundation staff and supporters.
Our long term vision for the CBF village is two-fold:
-To offer cultural exchange programs where visitors to the CBF village can have a genuine experience of staying in a local village and traditional accommodation, can learn firsthand about Indigenous culture, language, and cultural practice such as music, dance, and village life.
-To provide a culturally sensitive place where, with the specific invitation and request of local people, the west can meet the indigenous and bring ideas, skills and projects to better the welfare of the African Community - such as permaculture programs, solar training programs, French and English language training, and water well/clean water education.
We have affectionately named the village-to-be “Dela”- a Zulu word (also understood in local Mossi Language) which means contentment, deep happiness.
The CBF Village in Burkina Faso will directly support all the operations of Cultural Bridge Foundation in directly serving those in need in West Africa.
This is a massive undertaking and shared dream across cultures that is now becoming reality with the daily blessing and support of the local community in Burkina, and the support of our Cultural Bridge sister-community in the US.
Please help is in making this dream a reality!
